Building a Better Community: Introducing the James Hunt Residential Community Fund

Hi everyone, James here.

Over the last 20+ years, I’ve had the privilege of building and renovating homes in all kinds of conditions, and there's nowhere we love working more than right here in the Selwyn District, Particularly in and around Darfield.

We are incredibly grateful for the trust and support the local community has shown James Hunt Residential over the years.

Recently, I was looking over our company marketing budget and had a realisation. Honestly, I am sick of handing over our hard-earned money to massive, faceless advertising companies and social media giants. It just didn't sit right with our core values. I’d much rather see that money go toward something that actually matters—supporting the local clubs, groups, and people that make our community such a fantastic place to live.

So, we’ve decided to do things a bit differently.

I am so excited to announce the James Hunt Residential Community Fund. Instead of paying for traditional corporate ads, we are taking that money and giving it back. Every six months, we will be donating a financial grant to a local community group or club that is doing good work right here in our backyard.

Whether you're a local sports club needing new gear, a community initiative, a local school group, or a charity helping those in need, we want to hear from you.

What we ask in return (The Partnership): Because this fund is coming directly out of our advertising budget, we view this as a true partnership. In exchange for the funding, the selected group will need to display James Hunt Residential branding.

We are flexible on what this looks like depending on your organisation, but it could include:

• Our logo on your club jerseys or team shirts.

• A physical signboard at your home grounds or facility.

• A permanent logo and link on your website and newsletter.

• Regular tags and shout-outs on your social media pages.

We want to be your proud partner, helping you do great work while you help us keep our name visible in the community!

How to Apply: If you are part of a community group in the Selwyn District that could use a financial boost and is excited to partner with us, here is how you can apply:

1. Send us an email at info@jameshuntresidential.co.nz with the subject line: "Community Fund Application - [Name of Your Group]"

2. Tell us about your group: Who are you, and what great work do you do for the local community?

3. What is the goal? Let us know exactly how the funds will be used.

4. Show us the visibility: Give us a brief idea of how you plan to display our branding if your group is chosen.

Our first round of funding is officially open right now! We will be reviewing all applications and selecting a deserving group by 24 July 2026.
